USING HAUSCHKA THERAPEUTIC PAINTING TO EXPLORE THE 12 STEPS

With Hauschka Therapeutic Painting (Intuitive Painting) you begin the painting without knowing what the final image or theme will be as you open to your unconscious, and through the process, allow an image to emerge.

From a past twelve step participant:

“What did I get from this practice? A felt sense of inhabiting the Steps. In 12 step programs, we tend to focus on thoughts, attitudes, and service (thinking and doing). Deep and lasting recovery (transformation) blooms from spirit through the body.

Through painting, Donna Webb is offering an avenue to reconnect the spirit and body with the thinking and doing of the 12 steps. The spaciousness of the process allows spirit to bubble up through my body and out into images from my unconscious.

The exercises are a kind of contemplation combined with the physical experience of what it feels like to inhabit the steps and be transformed by them. This gentle process helps to produce “muscle memory” I can call on to help me practice these principles in all my affairs.” S.B.
